ABOUT

The Injury Biomechanics Lab is a part of the School of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (SEMS) at Robert Morris University, located in Moon Township, PA.  It is led by Dr. Rika Wright Carlsen and Dr. Won Joo, who have expertise in the biomechanics of soft and hard tissue, respectively.  One of the goals of the Injury Biomechanics Lab is to give science and engineering students an opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research in the biomechanics field.  We collaborate with a number of local research institutions and centers, including Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center.  We also collaborate with local companies, and we are part of the PANTHER program, which is a large interdisciplinary research collaboration focused on the detection and prevention of traumatic brain injuries and involves multiple universities, industrial partners, and national labs.
