DEVELOPING COMPUTATIONAL AND EXPERIMENTAL METHODS IN

Injury Biomechanics

PEOPLE

Our research team is passionate about studying the biomechanics of injury and developing tools to assist in the prevention, mitigation, diagnosis, and treatment of injury.

RESEARCH

Our research focuses on the application of mechanics to understand how biological systems function and sometimes fail to function properly, such as in the case of injury and disease.  Current areas of research  include traumatic brain injury, neural injury, and orthopedic injury.

TEACHING & OUTREACH

Dr. Carlsen and Dr. Joo teach undergraduate courses in mechanical and biomedical engineering at Robert Morris University and coordinate several outreach events throughout the year.
